Standard Commercial License
The Standard Commercial License is for clearly scoped commercial production. It is a non-exclusive, non-transferable contractual usage licence and does not transfer complete copyright.
After the one-time licence fee is paid, no continuing per-unit or revenue royalty is due within the licensed scope and cumulative 500-unit limit. Royalty-free does not mean free of charge.

How production quantity is calculated
The 500-unit limit under the Standard Commercial License means the cumulative number of commercial end products made with the same pattern under one licence and one purchasing entity. Different SKUs, colours, sizes and product styles are combined; the limit does not reset for each SKU.
Samples and prototypes produced solely for design development, internal review, photography or production testing and not intended for retail sale do not count toward the limit. Finished products made for sale, marketing giveaways or other commercial promotion do count. Quantity is based on commercial end products actually produced, not only units sold.
Permitted products and uses
Provided that total production stays within the licence limit and use remains with the purchasing entity, the licensed pattern may be used on:
- Garments, accessories and home textiles sold under the purchasing entity's own brand
- Fabric procured or printed to make those licensed end products
- Packaging and marketing visuals directly related to the licensed products
Production adjustments
Scaling, cropping, necessary layout work and reasonable colour adjustments are permitted for production. Every modified version remains subject to this licence and must not be sold or shared as a standalone digital pattern, asset pack or editable design product.
Not permitted under Standard
- Reselling TIFF, PNG, PSD or other source files
- Reselling the design as a digital asset
- Uploading it to an asset marketplace or public repository
- Sharing it for free or providing open download access
- Sublicensing it to another brand, unrelated entity or multiple independent brands
- Using it for AI model training, fine-tuning or datasets
- Building a competing print database or generation template
- Registering the design as a trademark or logo
- Claiming complete copyright ownership
- Continuing production after cumulative production exceeds 500 commercial end products
- Printed fabric made with the pattern must not be resold in bulk to unrelated third parties as a standalone licensed asset or commercial fabric for further production. Fabric resale, open B2B fabric distribution and other uses that enable third-party commercial production require an Extended License. A buyer may still procure or print fabric for its own brand's licensed end products.
Factories and suppliers
The buyer may provide production files to printers, textile mills, garment factories and other suppliers directly involved in the licensed project, solely to complete that purchasing entity's project. Suppliers must not use the files independently or for another customer, retain them for later production, or resell them.
AI and intellectual property
This licence grants contractual commercial usage rights in the delivered files. Unless expressly agreed in writing, the buyer does not automatically acquire complete intellectual-property ownership by purchasing this licence, and no independent copyright in AI-generated elements is guaranteed. MOTIF REVUE retains the rights it lawfully holds in human authorship, editing, selection, arrangement, processing and brand content.
Extended Commercial License
Intended for production volumes, brand scope, product categories, fabric resale or other commercial uses beyond the Standard License. Exact scope, production quantity and pricing are confirmed by the MOTIF REVUE studio.
- Beyond the Standard licence scope
- Expanded production / categories / brand scope
- Commercial fabric resale
- Other extended uses
- Scope and pricing confirmed by the studio
Exclusive License
Exclusive scope may be negotiated by product category, territory, duration, production quantity and brand scope. Once completed, the work may be removed from the public library as agreed.
An Exclusive License does not automatically transfer complete copyright. Any complete rights transfer requires a separate written agreement.
